Schwans has a longstanding history of providing high quality frozen food. In fact, they have been in business since 1952 when they began selling ice cream. They have now moved far beyond just ice cream and sell over 350 frozen food items. Customers can choose from breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. The dinner meal categories are specialty, beef and pork, chicken and turkey, pasta, seafood and LiveSmart.
The portion sizes Schwans recommends are generally short of what a real person eats, but they are much more realistic than they used to be. I had to adjust my review accordingly. I am showing the portion size I think is realistic in the picture, along with the price I paid for it, per serving.
LiveSmart is a line of both food items and meals that contain real ingredients. The entire line has no trans-fats and is moderate in calories, sodium and fat.
This is where those with dietary restrictions will find meal plans for heart health, diabetes and weight management. All of these plans are developed by a registered dietitian to ensure they meet both dietary restriction and nutritional needs. They provide the customer with 14 days of meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Customers can still enjoy delicious favorites such as chili, pasta with alfredo sauce, sweet and sour chicken, and more.
Customers have three options available to place an order. They may order online, over the phone or with the sales representative who delivers their food if this option is available to them. When it comes to shipping and delivery, the customer may receive their order in two ways depending on the service provided to their area. Customers who are within the delivery truck area can receive orders in reusable freezer bags packed with gel packs to keep food cold for hours.
Customers who are outside the delivery area will receive their order by UPS in an insulated cooler packed with dry ice. This option allows for customers living anywhere in the contiguous 48 states to receive frozen prepared meals and food items orders.

My Chef Review. Below you will see some of the products I have tried from this supplier. My review scoring is simple: I give each meal a thumbs up or a thumbs down based on the quality of the meal at the price I paid for it. A thumbs up means I would buy it again at the posted price.
I also take into consideration everything I think would be important to a consumer, including the shipping process, the condition of the goods received, the packaging, and the ease and quality of the reheating process. Below is my Schwans review based on the prepared meals I have tried.

Schwans coupons and coupon codes are rarely found on the Internet, however, if you create an account or sign up for their emails, you will occasionally get incentives from Schwans to place your order. Schwans does offer coupons periodically on their home page. You will find these in the left hand navigation, towards the middle of the page. These coupons are normally $1 or $2 off a particular product and require you to use a coupon code to activate them. Visit or Coupons and Coupon Codes page for active coupons.

There are many entrees to choose from, providing the customer with many dinner options.
Ingredients for their prepared meals are flash frozen. Items such as fruits and vegetables are picked at the peak of freshness before they are frozen.
A sampling of entrees include beef pot pie, tamales, spaghetti and meat sauce, chicken lo mein, chicken enchiladas, four cheese lasagna, shrimp and broccoli alfredo, loaded baked potato soup, and many more.
They also provide the customer with some extra features and products. There are recipe ideas and nutritional information. A loyalty program saves customers money.
Customers will find more than just frozen prepared meals, but they will also find frozen fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, pizza, pasta, side dishes, appetizers, snacks, ice cream, desserts and beverages.
This provides customers with the convenience of frozen meals as well as other foods to either compliment meals or to stock their freezer.

The Four Cheese Penne with Prosciutto could be on a TV commercial where they go into a famous Italian restaurant and swap the same meal on the menu with the Schwans version.
I don't think anyone would detect the difference and be happy to pay about $15 for the meal. The sauce is so creamy, and Schwans didn't skimp on chunks of Prosciutto either.
In my opinion, it is a great value at $5.39 per serving.
The Spaghetti with Meat Sauce may have been one of the best prepared meals of this type. The sauce was above average, and the pasta reheated well. The chunks of meat in the sauce was plentiful and tasty. In my opinion, this is another good value for $4.45 per serving.
The Macaroni with Cheese was pretty darn good too. It was creamy and flavorful, and much better than any boxed version you can buy at the supermarket. At $3.86 it is another good value I would order again.
The best part of my order was Creamed Chipped Beef. This is a traditional New England dish that you don't see on many menus these days. It is to the Northeast what Biscuits and Gravy is to the South. My father used make this when I was a boy, and this version of it was perfectly done. In fact, it brought back memories of the times my father and I would make this. It comes in two 15 oz. trays, and I used a whole tray as one serving, because it was that good. Not only would I order it again, I would order it by the case.
The Beef Shepherd's Pie (Shepherd's' Pie is made from Lamb, Cottage Pie is made from Beef) was also one of the best I have ever had from a meal delivery service. At $2.78 per serving, it is an excellent value.
The Beef Goulash is more like a Chili Mac and Cheese without the chili and the cheese, than a traditional goulash, but it was still very good. The macaroni still had texture and wasn't mushy like you might get from some other suppliers. At $2.73 per serving, it is an excellent value.
The Beef Merlot Stew was quite impressive. First, I used the whole package as one serving, so it would be even a better value if you were able to get two servings out of it. It doesn't cook in the microwave, but on your stove top. All you have to do empty the contents of the package into a covered non-stick pan, heat for 8 minutes, and you have an amazing stew with a strong Merlot flavor. The vegetables are fresh, and the sauce is outstanding. A great value for $10.99.
I consider myself an expert on frozen lasagna. Not only have I had almost everyone, I have probably had them multiple times. If I had to wager, I would say this lasagna is the same exact one as Stouffers Lasagna. The noodles, sauce, and meat are all exactly same, as is the amount of ricotta cheese. I checked the packaging, which read "Prepared for Schwans," so I think I am right. Not that there is anything wrong with that, because Stouffers is one of the best frozen lasagnas. The picture shows two servings for $4.71. A great value.
I called the Sliced Beef with Mashed Potatoes two servings at $8.46 per serving. You can see from the picture if you would get three or four servings out of this meal. If you do, the value is better. As for the meal, the sliced beef is roasted eye round, perfectly done, I might add. The gravy is plentiful and very good. The mashed potatoes are homemade and not instant. How do I know for sure? Well, Chef Piquanti knows, but the lumps in the potatoes was a dead give-away. They reminded me of visiting Mum.
In my opinion, this company has done an amazing job improving the variety of their menu and the quality of their prepared meals in recent years. It is even more impressive to me how they have made good quality products an excellent value. I highly recommend Schwans.
